hensmith was originally created and developed by Sarang S. Bhagwat as the
heat exchanger network synthesis facility of BioSTEAM
(``biosteam.facilities.hxn``, 2020), and is developed and maintained within
the `BioSTEAM Development Group <https://github.com/BioSTEAMDevelopmentGroup/hensmith>`__.
Sarang continues to lead hensmith developments and maintains the repository.

Here is a growing list of core contributors who have committed significant
resources, expertise, and other impactful efforts:
